The Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) prosecutors have opened a criminal case in rem for crimes against the security and integrity of computer systems and data, in connection with the recent days’ cyber attack.
According to DIICOT officials, the prosecutors took notice in the case and opened a criminal case for the offense of illegal access to a computer system (Article 360 of the Criminal Code), impairing the integrity of computer data (article 362 of the Criminal Code) and disturbing the operation computer systems (Article 363 of the Criminal Code).
The prosecutors are expecting to receive information from the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) on this issue, but also for the affected institutions to file criminal complaints.
