Huawei, leading global information and communications technology solutions provider, maintains a solid commitment to Romania’s educational system by supporting Romanian students’ education, through development and continuation of educational and practice stages such as Huawei Seeds for the Future. The 4th edition of the program in Romania is supported by the Ministry for Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry for Informational Society. Students with very good results not only in the telecom field, but also in fields such as international or financial-banking relationships, are carefully selected from the biggest universities in the country.
This year, from August 18 to September 2, after they previously attended an internship at the company’s headquarters in Bucharest, the ten selected students (eight from Bucharest, two from the Republic of Moldova) were sent to China. During the program’s first week, they attended intensive Chinese language and culture classes in Beijing and visited the city’s historical and touristic points of interest, becoming familiar with an important part of Chinese culture. The second week they traveled to Shenzhen, to the Huawei Academy Campus. At the Huawei headquarters, the students enjoyed advice and consultancy given by company specialists and had access to modern technologies in Huawei laboratories. Once back in the country, they were given the opportunity to work and implicitly to develop their knowledge as employees of Huawei Romania.
A few days ago, the 10 youngsters have been presented to the public at a press conference held by the Chinese telecom producer.
The Enterprise Director of Huawei Romania, Vlad Doicaru, stated: “By continuing this program, we want to offer students an inter-cultural experience and access to Huawei technologies. Basically, the main objectives of the ‘Huawei Seeds for the Future’ program are improving IT education, harmonizing theoretical and practical knowledge, and empowering young people with a passion for IT.”
In his turn, Kevin Liu, CEO at Huawei Romania, stated: “We, at Huawei, we truly believe that the talented students, the talented young people, are the key of the future.”
The Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Education, Mrs. Irina Elisabeta Kovács, who attended the conference, reconfirmed her ministry’s support for this program, saying that: “We are pleased to see that the Seeds for the Future telecom program grows from year to year and that there is a permanent concern of the company to integrate human resources and technological facilities in order to provide a sustainable involvement at the community level. Young people need to be guided, trained and supported to reach their maximum potential.” “Huawei’s social responsibility actions are a confirmation that Romania is a country in whose future it is worth investing” she added.
In her turn, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Communication and Information Society, Mrs. Maria-Manuela Catrina, stated: “Romania is one of the countries in which the IT field is extremely developed, we are good programmers, and I am sure that Chinese companies like Huawei have found competent, professional partners in Romania, with whom they can build things in the future, and today’s youngsters are just some of them.”
By perpetuating a program that supports IT education and practical experience and by implicitly supporting future local talent, Huawei has become a strategic partner of Romania’s educational system.
