ITFest returns with new edition!

The Union of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Informatics Faculty Students (SiCS) announces the beginning of the 8th edition of the ITFest national project, event already turned to tradition.

The festival will take place from 18 October to 8 November 2015, in Bucharest. SiCS is the oldest student organisation at ASE, founded in 1996, with over 150 projects successfully implemented so far. The main aim of the organisation is to represent students in relation with the academic environment and by creating personal and professional development opportunities.

ITFest intends to bring together young IT passionate from the entire country and create a bridge between the participants and the major IT companies.

The organizers’ intention is to achieve these things by a series of events that encourage young people to show their potential and create conditions needed for affirmation. One such event is the Hackathon (7 November, WeLoveDigital) where the participants can prove their skills in one of the three categories: Desktop, Mobile and Web.

The competitors have 12 hours to show they deserve the big prize in one of the three categories and the themes of the contest will be presented by our main partners, who will also choose the winners.

Another events designed to discover young talents in the IT area is the Algorithmic Contest (3 November, the Academy of Economic Studies), which is actually the local phase of the prominent international Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). ACM. It will begin with a training on the working mode to be adopted by each team and will continue with the actual tasks, where the teams will be given 5 hours to resolve 10 problems.

Other events within the project are: ● LAN Party with PC Garage (18 October, Crystal Palace Ballrooms), where young people passionate about gaming can prove their skills playing one of the three games: League of Legends, Mortal Kombat and Hearthstone.; ● Opening conference (2 November, Academy of Economic Studies); ● Thematic workshops presented by our partners, where the participants can find out the latest news in the area, and also come into direct contact with the biggest IT companies from 4 to 6 November, at the Academy of Economic Studies; ● Gadget presentation at the Academy of Economic Studies – offers the youth an opportunity to come into direct contact with the latest gadgets on the market ; ● ‘I speak IT!’ entrepreneurship conference on 20 October, within the West Gate Studios, where the participants will learn from experts in the field ; ● Awards ceremony (8 November, Academy of Economic Studies)
