+ Microsoft Summit 2015, the most important annual business and technology event in Romania, has attracted over 2,000 IT&C managers and professionals
Six innovative solutions that will accelerate the digital transformation over the coming years, this was one of the main topics at the Microsoft Summit 2015, the most important annual business and technology event in Romania.
“While in the past information was difficult to access, sources of information are multiple and available today. In the past we could talk about static hierarchies in which employees often had a competitive culture; today we are dealing with dynamic networks in which employees are motivated to collaborate ever more in order to bring value. We went from rendering the processes efficient to rendering the results efficient. Digital technologies have a major impact and have developed continuously in time. If we relate to the number of years in which a technology is picked up by 100 million people, we have the following statistics: the mobile phone was picked up by 100 million people in 16 years starting in 1979; Facebook in approximately 4 years starting in 2004; What’s App reached this threshold in approximately 3 years and Candy Crush Saga in just one year. In a business environment that is in the midst of a veritable transformative revolution, the role of the leader has become more complex, requiring professional skills such as vision and the capacity for micro- and macro-level analysis, innovative spirit, openness toward technology, the ability to change the rhythm of the organization depending on context, openness and the ability to connect people and organizations. Likewise, leaders will have to develop their personal skills too, skills such as clarity of vision, in a way in which good sense prevails, calm in any situation, the ability to integrate personal and professional life, tonus in a marathon of sprints,” Microsoft Romania Marketing & Operations Director Violeta Luca stated.
“Mobile internet, Internet of Things (IoT), robotics and advanced genomics, automation and autonomous vehicles are six innovative technologies that will accelerate digital transformation,” EY Romania Financial Services Industry Advisory Leader Aurelia Costache stated in a presentation on the transformation of companies’ business model against the backdrop of digital transformation.
“Not only will these 6 technologies change people’s purchasing habits and consumption behavior, but will fundamentally change the way we access and consume information, and in what concerns companies they will boost the speed of the business and will create new forms of interaction with users,” Aurelia Costache added.
The technologies of the future were the main topic tackled in the presentations of the more than 50 experts from Romania and Central and Eastern Europe who took part in the Microsoft Summit on November 4-5. “Technology allows the creation of new solutions that were unimaginable in the past. By using the new technologies companies gain competitive advantages that ensure sustainable growth in the long term. That is why organizations have to experiment, to innovate and to explore the capability of continuously reinventing themselves,” Headcandy Managing Partner Jasper Vis stated.
Microsoft Romania is the second centre of operations in Eastern Europe, the company currently having 700 employees at local level and estimating growth to 1,000 specialists in the next three years. At global level the company offers productivity solutions to over 600,000 companies and public institutions and has a community of over 1,000 Romanian employees. In 2007, Bill Gates opened the Global Business Support Center in Romania, a division that now has over 500 professionals in Bucharest and Timisoara.
With a network of over 3,000 partners at local level, Microsoft is actively involved in the activity of entrepreneurs in Romania, investing over USD 600,000 in developing over 450 start-ups so far. In Romania 52 per cent of SME employees use mobile solutions in order to work and in the opinion of 55 per cent of the respondents the digitalization of work processes within organizations, through mobile solutions, has an important contribution to the efficient use of time and to productivity maximization.
The third edition of the Microsoft Summit took place in Romania on November 4-5 and consisted of three pillars – for businessmen, IT professionals and solution developers.
